Ray Township is flat clay farm country with Wolcott Mill Metropark and the North Branch of the Clinton River in the middle of it, forty minutes from Royal Oak. With fewer than four thousand people in thirty-six square miles it is horse country: boarding farms and pasture along Romeo Plank, Indian Trail, Wolcott and Kunstman roads, forty-acre fields cut by ditches and hedgerows, and old farmsteads on every section.
